Statement

Since arriving in the US from Germany in 2006, I have been working at the Potter’s Guild in Ann Arbor, MI.

Having been a full-time potter for 25 years, ceramics has always been a very important part of my life.

Most of my work is functional,  because I want people to touch and use my pieces.

I love simple, clear forms, because they allow room for decoration.

Potters have been playing over and over with the same formal elements through the ages. It fills me with wonder, that it is still possible to find new and surprising combinations.

I am charmed by this material and I love to feel involved in its continuity and tradition.
